Questions in the Wind

by Neighbour_of_the_Beast @ Monday, Apr. 16, 2007 - 02:16:36 pm

How many miles must we walk
Till our feet can rest?
How many smiles must we fake
Before our masks crack?
How many times must we fall
To find ourselves broken?
How many angels must die
Just to kill one demon?

How many hearts must we break
Till we find our own?
How many knives must we throw
To find ourselves bleeding?
How many roses must we hold
Till we’re pierced by the thorns?
How many tears must we shed
Till we learn to trust?

How many dreams must we dream
To end the nightmares?
How many candles must we light
To rid this darkness?
How many times must we pray
Till our faith is pure?
How many times must we die
Till we learn to live?

yeah I know... I've been told that it does sound like 'Blowing in the Wind'. That's because it was inspired by that. Everyone keeps saying the answers are blowing in the wind when in fact there are more questions than answers!

yeah Sad but true.
A book on The Futility on Life, eh? So is this a look into our waning spirituality or just that we really are a bunch of pathetic losers... or is it like a handy guide to killing yourself? ;D

Anyway, this poem was written ages ago during my adolescent years (don't worry i haven't grown up, really!) and in retrospect, I believe life really isn't as futile as it sounds. We just have to know when to quit when something ain't working out, and I believe that happens because there's always something better instead... and if there isn't, we always have the power to make our own alternatives. some answers are beyond our human capacity to comprehend... maybe a highly evolved life form (like a giant brain with no legs/arms/weewee) some trillion light years away may know that one single answer we've been searching all our lives.

Coincidently, last week i picked up a book called 'The Book of Heroic Failures' by a guy called Stephen Piles. Found this hilarious book at a second hand book counter. And I went looking for cello tape (now that's what i meant by a better alternative! hehe). Here's a little excerpt from the book:

THE LEAST SUCCESSFUL WEATHER REPORT - after severe flooding in Jeddah in January 1979, the Arab News gave the following bulletin:
'We regret we are unable to give you the weather. We rely on weather reports from the airport, which is closed because of the weather. Whether we are able to give you the weather tomorrow depends on the weather'. ;D

good luck on your book. Mail me a copy ;)

The point of life, lil' sis, is to live it and make the best of it without harming others... it's so universal, it transcends all religous beliefs. And yes, i do believe in religion. ;)

Ok if I keep reading this again and again, it's off to drug and alcoholic treatment center for me. And I just love a tequila flavoured with some pot.
